Our BIO
If you don't know who he is, you will very soon - Tony Desmarteau is a MONSTER guitarist. Trust that he is one of the best in Canada. A "player's player" - check out his site to see who does know him! He's one of those accomplished, respected, one-in-a-million players, who lights the way for many other guitarists as a mentor and teacher. Tony's playing is compared to Lenny Breau and Chet Atkins, with a healthy nod to Skunk Baxter. He has an impressive resume that crosses geographical borders and musical genres. After spending twenty years in Winnipeg where he earned the utmost respect and admiration from the music community, Tony is happy to be back in T.O., his hometown, where he worked at Ring Music in the seventies. When he showed up and played at a Toronto Fingerstyle Guitar Association open stage as an "unknown", he was invited to be a featured performer in the same breath! A few names from his long list of accomplices include Tracy K & her Right Hand Band, the Swing Cats, Gerald Laroche, Marilyn Lerner, Jane Bunnet, Marie-Lynn Hammond, Jaylene Johnson, Janice Findlay, and recently in the Luke and Jesse duo appearing around Toronto. He is being re-discovered in Toronto, and you will not want to miss experiencing this amazing player.http://www.tonydesmarteau.com
Tracy K possesses the charisma, talent, and versatility instinctive of great performers. She sings, writes, plays harmonica and guitar, but it's her amazing voice that first captivates - a hallmark ranging from sassy Janis Joplin to buttery Anne Murray, blues field holler to a soft jazz lilt. Fans have experienced Tracy K fronting her own projects, singing harmonies and playing harmonica with other artists, and as a featured vocalist at special events over the years. She keeps busy on a wide variety of musical projects, and tours as aduoor four piece band. Born of Winnipeg's fertile music community, now residing in beautiful Thunder Bay, her music has taken her from Canada to the Caribbean as a stand-alone attraction and on playbills with other greats. Well known on the Canadian Blues scene, Tracy K’s voice and stage talents have earned multiple awards and she is notably Canada's first female to be named 'Harmonica Player of the Year'. Her fans keep hearing her on the radio and they tell her about it. They think she's famous - she thinks she's blessed. http://www.tracyk.ca
They first performed together in Winnipeg in 1999on a jazz gig, and Tony became Tracy's regular guitarist. The jazz gigsbecame a side project as Tracy K and her Right Hand Band was on the rise with a busy blues/roots rock career. After ten years of playing together they are stepping out as a duo. Tracy K & Tony Desmarteau (Tn'T) inherit their sound from classic jazz, swing and vintage blues. You'll hear Tony's superb jazz guitar and the signature vocal and harmonica stylings of Tracy K done with unabashed personality and witty delivery. Two good ole pals and musical compadres combining their unique talents and personalities for quality entertainment. The first time Tony and Tracy performed as guests with Julian Fauth at Gate 403 in T.O., the owner was so pleased they were offered multiple dates and Tony has been booked as a Sunday brunch regular. In fact, Tony is quickly developing the notoriety in his hometown that he had developed in Winnipeg. Together, Tn'T are dynOmite!!
